Obituary / Death Notice

William C. "Bill" Parry, 88, of Rome, passed away with his loving wife and family by his side on Thursday, April 20, 2017, at the Oneida Healthcare Facility. He was a son of the late Griff and Margaret Ross Parry.

He served in the US Army during World War II. On July 5, 1953, he married Dorothy Cook in the Lowell Methodist Church. Bill was a civil service employee at Griffiss Air Force Base for 37 years before retiring in 1988.

He also drove bus for the City of Rome. He was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rome, the Henry P.

Smith Post #24 American Legion, the Stanwix Veteran's and Men's Club, AARP, and the Rome Polish Home. Bill enjoyed spending his free time with his wife and grandchildren, traveling and socializing. Surviving besides his loving wife of 64 years, Dorothy, are five children and their spouses, Donna and Jim Tuthill, Chuck and Regina Parry, Debra and Edward Sprock, Dawn and Bob Larsen, and Keith and Michelle Parry; two sisters, Gladys Windish and Rita Young; twelve grandchildren, Tonya, Shane, Katie, Sara, Brian, Doug, Kyle, Kelsey, Brandon, Gavin, Evelyn, and Tristin; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by eight siblings. Bill's family would like to express their gratitude to Jenn James, Dr. Fuleihan, and the staff at the Eastern Star Home for their wonderful care and compassion.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 22nd at 12:00PM at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church on Chestnut St. in Rome.

Family and friends are invited to call at the church on Saturday prior to the service from 10:00AM to 12:00PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Bill's memory may be made to the St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church Memorial Fund.
