Dorothy Louise Peters Longwith, 84, a lifelong resident of Ringgold, GA went home to be with Jesus on June 18, 2017. She was a member of Nellie Head Baptist Church, but had been unable to attend for the last several years, due to failing health. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 yrs., Arthur Longwith, Jr.; parents, Clarence and Stella Anderson Peters; infant sister, Joyce Ann Peters; beloved feline companion, Sweetpea; and granddog, Cookie Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Ann Longwith; son, Alan Longwith, both of Ringgold; granddaughters by choice and their familes, Amanda Ridley Callaham (Greg, Samantha, & Cassie) all of East Ridge, TN; Ashley Ridley Parrish (Chris, Levi & Lorelai) all of Memphis, TN; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Johnny and Dorothy Longwith of Rossville; numerous cousins, and several nieces & nephews by marriage.

Dorothy was a wonderful, hardworking wife and mama. She kept house, mowed the yard, worked the garden, and canned, froze, & dried fruits and vegetables for the family to eat. She was a great cook with fried apple pies and sweet tea being two of her specialties.

She was a good seamstress, making clothes for herself and Ann, (and for Ann's Barbie Dolls). Before her health declined, she enjoyed working outdoors in her flower beds, and making handstitched quilts for her family and friends. Proverbs 31:10-31 The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 in the funeral home chapel, with Bro.

Don Self officiating. Interment will follow in Anderson Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday and prior to the service on Wednesday.

In Lieu of flowers, gifts can be made to the Humane Education Society of Chattanooga or Hospice of Chattanooga. Special Thanks to the employees of NHC Rossville and Hospice of Chattanooga for the care and compassion shown to Mama and the family. Arrangements by Wilson Funeral Home-Wallis Stewart Chapel, Ringgold.
